All Vivinex™ intraocular lenses (IOLs) share the same glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic material and proprietary aspheric optic engineering. Each variant adds functionality — toric correction, multifocal optics, or a new delivery system — on a consistent, well-studied base.

Glistening-Free Material

Grade 0 on Miyata scale (11.6 ± 5.7 MV/mm²). In-vitro study confirmed glistening-free vs six commercially available hydrophobic IOLs (Tandogan et al. 202110).

Active Oxygen PCO Treatment

Posterior surface active oxygen processing + smooth optic surface + square edge — three-mechanism PCO resistance approach.²

Proprietary Aspheric Optic

Partially compensates corneal spherical aberration; more tolerant to decentration-induced coma than standard aspheric designs (Pérez-Merino & Marcos 20183; Chandra et al. 20228).

Textured-Rough Haptic Surface

Reduces adhesion to optic during delivery; improves grip inside the capsular bag — key contributor to rotational stability across monofocal and toric models.

Gemetric™ Pairing Strategy

Pairing Vivinex™ Gemetric™ & Gemetric™ Plus

Both lenses share identical add powers (+1.75 D intermediate, +3.50 D near) but different light distributions to each focal point. Pairing one in each eye creates a complementary binocular system with an excellent, continuous defocus curve and no gaps. Binocular data collected 4–6 months postop (Kaymak et al. 20242).

multiSert™ 4-in-1 Modes

Choose push or screw advancement mode; set insert shield to default (delivery into capsular bag) or advanced position (delivery through incision tunnel). Consistent mode selection reduces case-to-case variability.20

iSert® Delivery

Lubricate tip with OVD. Advance plunger smoothly — no stop-start motion. Both iSert® and multiSert™ use 1.70 mm injector tip OD and require ≥2.20 mm incision.

Toric Axis Alignment

Mark horizontal meridian with patient seated upright to compensate for cyclotorsion. Use HOYAtoric.com — supports Abulafia-Koch regression for posterior corneal astigmatism correction.22 Axis orientation marks are on the posterior surface of the XY1A-SP.

Capsulorrhexis for Gemetric™

Target a centred, circular CCC of 5.0–5.5 mm with 360° optic overlap. Precise centration is critical — the diffractive zone occupies the central 3.2 mm; decentration degrades trifocal performance.

OVD Removal — Toric

Complete OVD removal, including posterior to the optic, before confirming final toric axis position. Any residual OVD permits rotation. Final check must follow full OVD aspiration.

PCO Prophylaxis

Vivinex™ uses a three-layer approach: active oxygen treatment + smooth optic surface + 360° square posterior edge. Full CCC overlap of optic edge maximises barrier effect. Evidence: Leydolt et al. 202013; Auffarth et al. 202312.
